Yesterday was my (our) eighth wedding anniversary and it was a roller coaster type of day. I woke up and the weather was great, low 60’s and crisp and perfect for long sleeves and pants. Just yummy and brisk and made me happy to be alive, you know? I could (finally!) open the window and shut off the air conditioning and feel like the weather was turning our favor.
I spent an hour and a half at the dentist getting my
gums hacked up with a metal torture device teeth cleaned and learned I REALLY need my wisdom teeth out. As opposed to two years ago when it was just a suggestion. Have I mentioned I’m a procrastinator?
Then I ran to the doctor to get medical forms for the babies and they
lost them, wtf, tearing my hair out couldn’t find them so I had to schedule extra physicals for both kids (which is not fun) and then race back to pick up my daughter late from school. My son was also sick and thank god my father in law could pick him up early while I was stuck in doctor office hell.
Not a great morning. I felt drained, listless, frustrated with life’s daily annoyances.
Then my husband came home with the news he had been promoted. News we have been waiting a year for.
Which was BIG.
It took a no good, very bad day and gave us reason to smile and be grateful again. All the petty annoyances of the day could be forgotten.
We went to an huge book exchange together and browsed old, smelly books (my favorite) and ate an amazing meal and toasted with champagne and all was right in the world.
