As a mom to a three and four year old I need to wear things that are easy and comfortable, but still make me feel stylish. I spend the majority of my days doing preschool drop off and pick ups, heading to gymnastics, or doing errands that are seemingly endless. I like to take some risks and play around with my style and sometimes I feel pressured to not be a dressy as I want to be. I live in a super casual, smallish town and it sometimes looks weird to be too dressed up or done. I know I am not the only mom (or woman in general) who has this issue. The need to wear easygoing items and fit in versus wanting to look unique or taking risks. I have never wanted to be that person who gave up their personal style just because I’m a mom.
Now don’t get me wrong. I have spent many days in jeans and tee shirts or yoga pants. I don’t judge others when it comes to style. Everyone has their own needs and wants when it comes to clothing. To each their own.
I find that sometimes the trick for me is about adding a little twist on a otherwise simple outfit. I went on a field trip today to a horse ranch with my daughter’s class and knew I would be riding in wagons, feeding cows and taking pony ride pics (check out my instagram for fun photo’s of our day!) So I chose simple pieces and added some fun elements (boots, bag, accessories.)
Tell me: how does your lifestyle (or location) dictate how you dress?
