I did an informal poll on my Facebook page this week asking what questions YOU have when it comes to holiday dressing. Three themes popped up: The need for comfort, the need for warmth and the ability to hide some extra sugar cookies we (I) may all have been eating.
I have noticed that it isn’t the super dressy part that is hard, it is dressing for the more casual events that causes the most problems. I know that my family tends to be very casual at holiday events, yet I still like to look cute and feel festive. Especially since I will be cooking, chasing after kids and obsessively stuffing every spare scrap of wrapping paper into trash bags. It’s a sickness. I know.
The outfit above is my version of what to wear to a more casual event at a friends house or even a family party. The tunic is loose and allows for easy movement, but has leather trim and a fun zipper down the back for interest. The pants and scarf add texture (though my daughter did not like the scarf, she thought it was ugly…) The heels, those are my version of I never get to dress up anymore, so damn it I’m wearing glitter heels. I would be in flats or barefoot at home, I promise.
A couple of easy tweaks to change this outfit:
1) Swap the glitter heels for sparkly flats.
P.S. I would die for a pair of liquid leggings like these, as my pair I have now are getting baggy (a big no no!) Does anyone have a great pair that YOU have found and loved?
