Soooo, I have no big plans for Valentine’s Day…do you? My husband is working and I will be cuddling up with my little loves instead. I have some really cute surprises for them and can’t wait to see them open them up! Kids make the holidays really exciting. I like to make it fun and give them little, inexpensive gifts to brighten their day.
I remember back in the day when Valentine’s Day was so exciting. We always had big plans. Our first V Day together he gave me an amethyst ring that made my little heart go pitty pat. I remember the feeling I had when I opened it up and saw it and how happy I was to have him in my life at that moment.
(I still am.)
Another time I saved up $100 from waitressing in college and took him out for dinner and thinking we were so ritzy in this little hole in the wall restaurant. I felt like a million bucks taking him out that night. Fast forward 13 years and things are a little less spontaneous. I’d like to think things are better. We may not do gifts as much anymore or make a big deal out of it, but I find I don’t need it to be a big deal like I did before. I’m happier with less. I’m happy just having him and the kids and feeling blessed to be loved by them.
Having a joint account makes it a bit tricky to “surprise” each other with gifts. I am not a flowers kind of girl because I have to be all practical and think of the things we should be saving for instead. Like my Target runs. Tee hee.
Now don’t get me wrong, I love a card with something sentimental written in it. I just don’t need much more than that. I buy myself plenty over the course of a year and don’t need much. However, for my people that do like a little something something on V Day (either as a gift or buying for yourself, like me!) here are some cute things that caught my eye…
A little mini bow ring.
A cozy sweatshirt sweater, in pink!
A sexy/sweet little dress.
Neon yellow (pop of color!) heels.
A cool, studded clutch.
(P.S. I’m a sucker for hearts and pink!)
