First off, Happy Valentine’s Day!
I must admit, I love this holiday. I know its kind of a made up Hallmark holiday, but does that even matter? It gives me a chance to paint hearts on my nails and buy themed clothing for my kids and make my husband nervous by asking, “so what are you getting me this year?” Gosh I love making him sweat. Ba ha ha ha ha.
I am a sucker for pink, love, hearts, little velvet boxes, paper doilies, candy hearts and those sappy commercials for engagement rings. My daughter was born exactly 6 days after Valentine’s Day and this month just holds a special place in my heart. My baby (my baby!) will be five next week and I can’t believe how the time has flown or how I got old enough to have a five year old or be in charge of any children exactly. Aren’t I still 22?
Don’t answer that.
Since both Molly and Brady are in preschool you can bet your buttons we had to make a whole bunch of Valentine’s for their classmates this week. I found these one at Target this past weekend and instantly liked that they were not the generic ones you usually find. These were little gift bags that you added stickers and such to with fun themes (you know I had to pick Pirate’s for my Jake and the Neverland Pirate’s obsessed boy, right?) Molly got to write her classmate’s names on hers and they ingested half a bag of candy hearts while I wasn’t looking stuffing the bags, but we had fun!
I had high hopes for some Pinterest inspired homemade craft extravaganza, but I just couldn’t. I mean, isn’t it stressful to feel like we need to be perfect craft moms who make crazy gift bags and such for our children’s classmates? Inside I want to be that mom, but I’m just not. I guess I’d rather leave that to the mother’s who do that better than I do and focus on my strengths…. (and what are those exactly?)
Anyway!
Hope your day is filled with love, and chocolate….and wine.
