Let me paint a picture for you of what the best day ever consists of.
Your sister in law comes to town. You drop the kids off at your mom’s house (they have projects and gardening and movies to watch! And new clothes! They can’t wait for you to leave! Are you gone yet, mom? Yes! I’m leaving! Loveyoubyeeeeee!)
You immediately drive to the nail salon and have your first pedicure in a long time. Your feet need massive help and your eyebrows are even worse. Yikes! They have slowly expanded to caterpillar size and now they are elegant little arches. You are tempted to get eyelash extensions, but are talked out of it. You are happy about this?
Your sister in law turns to you and says, “Let’s go to H&M.”
You think on this a second and say to yourself, “The H&M is right next to the biggest Forever 21 you have ever seen and it is raining and…YES.”
You drive to the mall (on a Saturday in Spring Break, but you don’t care because, Hello, it’s a girls day!) The H&M is amazing. Two floors of pure delight where all the dressing room attendants are the cutest men (boys?) dressed in the smartest way and they are helpful and you want to take them home and be instant friends. You find these pants, the holy grail of pants that you saw Emily Frame wear once and it is like a light shines down from heaven when you see them. But alas! They don’ fit. For a second you contemplate wearing them with an elastic band on the button like you did when you were four months pregnant, but no, you come to your senses and put them back. Insert sad face.
Yet! You find the most perfect denim cutoffs and a denim jacket and a long gray tee and two bandage skirts (only $5.95 each!) and put back 700 other things you don’t really need.
Next you visit the mecca of Forever 21. Disciplining yourself and sticking to budget (boooooooo) you just look at the jewelry and have a field day buying spike rings and arrow necklaces and fake glasses all the while fighting for floor space with teenage girls who are dressed better than you ever did at their age.
Four hours later you come home, pick up your husband who has been watching March Madness all day (booooooo) and go out for sushi.
Have you ever ordered so much at a restaurant that the waiters look at you with disbelief?
That happens to us all the time. We are eaters. Big eaters. If I am going out for sushi (my favorite!) I am going to make it worth it. Crab Rangoon, two specialty rolls, edamame, miso soup and an entree. I literally rolled myself out of there and straight into my stretchy pants. Now that is my idea of a good time.
We went to the beach on Friday and it was freezing! Maybe 55 degrees? There were Spring Breakers tanning and creepy guys with metal detectors and after we went out to lunch at Salt Life. Have you eaten there? You must! It was the best lunch. Ever. I had a bowl with sushi rice, avocado, spinach, raw tuna and a sauce that mixed in and made it amazingly delicious. They had a really cute bathroom, too. Am I the only one impressed with modern sink fixtures and two types of designer soaps? Ok, just me.
In summary: the perfect day consists of pedicures, shopping and a sushi dinner. Agree?
Tell me, how was YOUR weekend?
