F21 cardi (similar); Stitchfix dress; Target boots; Coach tote (similar); Oia Jules pendant (similar.)
So, I bought this dress from my first Stitchfix box last week.
I had to! I wore it to my “write my little heart out” date at Panera that I have with myself when the kids are in school. You guys, those days are amazing. Steel cut oatmeal bowls and unlimited coffee. I literally vibrate out of there from the caffeine rush.
I ran into a girl there that I only see at the Y. I see her three days a week looking like complete trash and she saw me at Panera and told me I looked pretty. Pretty! I had to keep the dress. It earned compliments and that is a positive confirmation in my book. I also think my Stitchfix stylist has entered my head like a weird science fiction movie and just knows what I like. Weird?
On another note, I wanted to update you on my quest to disconnect more and be less of “that mom” out and about with my kids.
I last wrote about it here. It’s funny how time sort of passes and your babies become toddlers and then your toddlers become kids. They notice and listen and really see what mom is doing. They notice that she checks her phone a lot and runs for text alerts and spends an awful lot of time on the computer. They know I have a blog and take photos for my blog, but beyond that they see that I always have my phone rightbymysideeverysecond.
long short, I have decided to shut my phone off from Saturday afternoon (around 5pm) to Sunday night. I don’t answer the phone, text, Instagram, Tweet, Facebook, etc. I turn my phone off to avoid temptation (and the temptation to just look is so strong!) I’ve done this the past two weekends and it feels good. Really good. I play more with the kids, get more done around the house and I feel better about myself. It’s funny how having a phone can make you think that if you don’t keep in constant contact with social media then you will miss out. I’m here to say that you don’t. Really!
So, now for something that could be kind of fun!
Comment below if you wish to participate in the Great Sunday Disconnect (sounds dramatic, right?) Then write a post about how you did next week…I would LOVE to read about your experience!
