Is that bad that the entire outfit is from Target?
First of all, this outfit is from two weeks ago. I took the pictures, edited them and then for some reason never posted them. So, welcome to a date night look from the past!
On to Mother’s Day! I love this day. There are only a couple occasions each year where I like receiving gifts and this is one of them (my birthday is the other.) Christmas, Valentine’s Day, anniversary’s, those I don’t care about in terms of gifts. I enjoy a well written card more, or a joint present like a weekend away with my husband for those. I adore Mother’s Day because it allows me to pick something out for myself that is a bit of a splurge and not feel guilty. And yes, in my house I direct my husband to what I would like. His ideas on his own are a little…interesting, shall we say?
Note: I also love honoring my mother on this day and the women that mean the most to me. Flowers, cards, little trinkets, a date night with my own mama, little occasions where we can celebrate this
battle field wonderful thing we call motherhood. If I’m being really sappy I will say that every day for me is a blessing because having my children was a dream come true. The first moment I held my daughter was one I will never forget (as was the moment I first saw my son.) I appreciate my parents so much more than I did pre kids and can now fully realize how much they loved me.
On to the gifts! I have been browsing online lately and have found lots of lovely things that I think would be perfect as gifts, either for myself or others. Let’s get started.
Have you heard of The Shine Project? Ashley has a blog and employs at risk youth to create the most beautiful jewelry, as well as many other amazing opportunities. Her jewelry shop, Threads, is my favorite. I have my eye on this stacked set (multiple dainty bracelets in fool proof stacks are fun, right?), as well as this personalized bangle.
Can we discuss The Oxford Trunk? I found them randomly through another blog one day and I am in love. They have really fun, unique pieces that want to come home with me.
I love pendant necklaces, they always look fun and they are my favorite type to wear. This gold dipped quartz one is amazing.
I also love this Howlite fringed necklace.
I would love to stack this Raw crystal Pyrite bangle next to my large boyfriend watch.
This transport tote from Madewell seems really simple and unassuming, but that is the best part of it. It goes with everything, holds everything and is an investment worth making (in my opinion!)
Lisa Leonard is another blog find and her jewelry is divine. I love the simplicity of the gold chevron necklace and the daintiness of this initial charm necklace. I am a sucker for things that are sentimental or have some kind of tie in to my children, whether it be their initials or something that represents them. This site has a lot of customizable options for things like that.
Now let’s talk sunglasses. I have always been a cheap sunglass gal. I love to switch my look up and buy trendy shapes and colors. However, I find that these sunglasses do nothing to block out the sun (gasp!) I am in the market for a nice pair that I can wear for a long time and be able to go outside with and not squint.
My fave is a pair of classic Wayfarer’s. They just scream cool to me, you know?
Second runner up is a pair of classic Jackie O’s. Kate Spade has some really cute ones (I’m kind of addicted to looking through the Nordstom website at these late at night…)
I adore these cat eye frames!
Oh! And these nude, oversized ones!
Fine, I’ll take these aviator’s, too…
Tell me, what do you give your mom? What do you like receiving if you are a mom yourself?
