Oh Target…my one, true love…
And now I bring you, hotel yoga!
Can I tell you how good this felt after 12 hours in the car?
“This post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group® and All You, but all my opinions are my own. #lifeforless #pmedia http://cmp.ly/3/8vNxcO
Before I left town last weekend I stopped into my local Target and picked up a copy of All You magazine. Did I ever tell you I’m a magazine junkie? Its my weakness. Something about reading material in small, manageable bites that teaches me something and entertains me all at the same time. I’m a reader in its purest form, so magazines just work for me. Perfection.
My interest in All You magazine was piqued partly by the cover shot of an instant Strawberry Shortcake recipe ( love that!) as well as the health tips and money saving tips inside. As you might know, I really like working out and feeding my family
mostly healthy foods and I’m always in need of new ways to feed us all. I mean, isn’t it hard to not cook chicken every single night with a salad and some other random side? I need ideas, people!
I wasn’t disappointed with menu ideas. A couple of pages in all the recipes were listed in one place with the page number it was located on and (and!) had the cost of each one listed out from least to greatest. I’m sort of an organized soul, so I appreciate seeing things all lined up like that and easy to find. Two recipes I am trying out as soon as I get back into a kitchen: the Roasted Shrimp, Avocado and White Bean Salad and the Grilled Vegetable Pesto Pasta Salad. Oh! I also want to try the Vegetable Calzone. I’m a pasta/bread girl at heart.
Another thing I liked that was in the July issue was the article on beginner yoga poses. I adore yoga, but often don’t get to a class as often as I should. Now that I’m on the road and can’t get to a gym at all, I like to do a little yoga to stretch out (oh, my aching back after 12 hours in the car!) It only takes about 10 minutes to do a couple of poses and instantly made my whole body feel relaxed. Since I’m used to an instructor leading the way in class I thought it was useful that the poses were shown in a simple to follow way and were easy to do.
Lastly, I liked an article that laid out some simple ways to increase your metabolism. I think every person who breathes wants a faster metabolism, am I right? Since I’m living out of a suitcase and don’t have access to my usual routine and foods, this article interested me (a lot!) Something that I try to do (and was recommended in the magazine) is to limit my processed food intake and sugar. This is tough on the road, I end up eating a lot of salads and I say no to a lot of temptation (er, mostly….)
There were some fun snack ideas in the article that I loved as well. I like to do little snacks throughout the day instead of three bigger meals. Grapes with 1 oz of cheese, greek yogurt and orange slices and an apple with some almond butter are all options I can pick up at a grocery store and bring along with me in a little cooler.
I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by All You magazine and its extremely thorough content. There was so much in there, so many fresh ideas that I’m dying to try out (loved the camping sleepover party idea for Brady’s 4th birthday in August!) as well as the time saving cleaning tips. Did you know you can put baking soda on your mattress while you’re washing your sheets and it draws dirt and moisture out of the mattress? You can then vacuum it up. Mind. Blown.
Next time you’re in Target, grab a copy of All You (along with the entire contents of the women’ clothing line like I tend to do….) and come tell me what you think. I’m dying to hear your opinions!
P.S. You can also go to www.allyou.com/value to find the nearest store in which to buy All You as well as a money saving coupon to purchase a copy.
