I was laying in bed tossing and turning this past Friday till 2am (don’t ask) and it came upon me that I need a weekly post of some sort to share my obsessions. I mean, I tend to have a lot. They come upon me quickly and I like to share them and figured, oh hey, I have a blog I can do that on. Ha.
Sometimes a lot of my posts, or spill my internal dialogue writings, come to me at the strangest moments…in the car, laying in bed in the dark of night, talking to friends or reading something that provokes some sort of moment in me where I have to share it. I have a marriage post I’m mulling over at the moment, sort of a how to stay happily married kind of post. Only this one probably won’t be traditional as those always seem cliche to me. I’m talking real life, real marriage and no editing of thoughts or political correctness.
On to obsessions!
That sweatshirt above? It was sent to me by Skip N’ Whistle and it is delicious, I tell you. Soft with the right amount of slouch, thinner than the average sweatshirt and cozy enough to wear constantly. Which I have since it arrived three days ago. I adore it. It’s not often in Internet dealings that things are better in person than they appear, but this one is it. I’ve also recently discovered that Asos has super high quality things and they have free shipping both ways. I find that important as I don’t like to pay shipping to return something and it deters me from ordering again.
I’ve been admiring the designer version of these shoes for quite some time, but never in my life would I pay $450 for a pair of shoes. (Unless I win Powerball, then all bets are off.) I’ve been looking around for awhile and sort of hoped the knock off version would reach Target soon, but alas, no luck. Then I found them on Zappo’s. For some reason I’m a VIP status over there and I ordered them on Thursday and they came Friday. I have worn them every day. Literally. They are comfortable and come in a bunch of colors (pink!) and I may need more. After my my shopping hiatus is over, of course.
See above shoes for part of reason for shopping hiatus…)
I’ve been attempting to create a fun gallery wall in my living room and have used all black and white prints in white frames, and hanging them in an organized yet off kilter way. I just used painters tape to create a line horizonatally along the wall, then made sure the top of the frames along the bottom of the line lined up and were a certain distance apart, then hung them. The frames above the line were lined up so they were even along the bottom, and spaced the same distance as well. Because of the line and the distance between each frame were the same, the different size frames look cool and haphazard. Not weird and wonky looking like past hanging attempts. I feel like a big girl now.
I’ve been on the lookout for two additional prints to put up and came upon Society 6 in my browsing rambles one evening. Society 6 is a market place where a zillion prints can be looked at by category and bought from one spot. I chose the Wish You Were Here print because that line in that Pink Floyd song is my husbands’ favorite of all time (I remember sitting in his room in college and listening to it and him telling me like it was yesterday.) It felt like striking gold when I found it and reminds me of our earlier days. Love.
The second print is a graphic alphabet and in a roundabout way it signifies my love for reading and my Master’s degree in reading education. I love that both of these prints say a little things about us, but not in an obvious way, you know?
Tell me, what are you currently obsessing about?
