I was up late the other night watching “Tia and Tamera” (don’t judge!), and they did this little exercise with each other in therapy where they had to use the phrase, “if you really knew me…” and reveal something about themselves. I thought it might be cool to do that here since, a) it’s my blog and I’ve got to write about something, and b) I have some new readers around here who may or may not be wondering who I am.
(ARE you?) Say yes.
Note: My name not Jackie, it’s Meagan. Confused??? Read HERE to find out the why behind the blog name!
So here goes. If you really knew me…
…you would know that I went to school forever, have a Master’s degree in Reading Education and taught elementary school for three years. I’ve currently been a stay at home mom for 6 years. And no, I don’t feel like I am “wasting my education” by staying home. Is an education ever wasted?
…you would know that I have had braces twice. Once in my teens and once two years ago. The second time around hurt more, was sort of embarrassing in my 30’s and was one of the best things I did. I still wear my retainer every night to bed. Sexy.
…you would also know I had a breast reduction three years ago and it was a weight (literally and figuratively) off my shoulders. I had huuuuuuuuge breasts at an early age and always hated them. I could never wear pretty bras, or buy regular bathing suits or tank tops with anything less than a thick strap. After the surgery it was like I was a new person. I felt like the real me, the me I should have been born as.
…you would know that watching people put on socks or pantyhose is like nails on a chalkboard and chills me to the soul. I just can’t.
…you would know that I love reading above any other past time and have a huge collection in my home of my favorites that I reread. A lot. Diana Galbadon, Lavryle Spencer, Nora Roberts, Elin Hilderbrand and any type of style book or biography of old time movie stars or the Kennedy family are my faves. Oh! Self help books also sort of rock my world.
…you would know that I met my husband in college when I was 19 and he was 21 and after a year of being just friends and about two months of dating I knew he was the one.
…it took a little time to get pregnant with my daughter and to this day, seeing that pregnancy test read “pregnant” is one of my all time favorite moments.
…I worry every single day about being a good mom.
…I’m writing an ebook on blogging and I think this may be one of my favorite things to do. It combines my love of writing and my love of blogging in one place. It’s almost done and will be for sale on Amazon in September. (Squeeeeeeee!) I’m thinking of writing my next ebook on creating routines and schedules for babies and children. Thoughts?
…I watch QVC more than any channel or show on TV. It’s my happy place.
…I’m a loner at heart and have to push myself to get out and do things. Being at home surrounded by my things is my favorite. I’m working on saying “yes” more to opportunities and new things.
…you would know that despite the fact that I DO shop a lot, we have no credit cards, no debt besides a home (that we rent out and make an income on) and live comfortably within our means. It’s important to be smart about money and know your limits. Can you tell I minored in finance?
…I am really obsessed with neatness and being organized. Clutter makes me nervous and I can’t concentrate. This leads me to donate many, many things on a monthly basis that I tend to regret later!
…the movie that I have to stop and watch if it is on TV is “Father of the Bride.” I adore it.
Tell me, what is something you can tell me about YOU?
