Can I note it was 86 degrees when we took these pictures on Tuesday? Today (Sunday) it’s raining and 56 degrees and I’m bundled right up on my couch wearing two hundred layers. I secretly love it.
I impulsively bought this purse the other day at Target (I think I was there to buy coffee?), and I cannot stop wearing it. The color is person is really rich and just says Fall to me, you know?
This girl. She’s in Kindergarten all day and I miss her! I’m so used to spending tons of time with her and being the only person to guide her and now it feels like I’ve lost a part of her, you know? She’s adjusting to school and learning hard playground lessons (it’s unreasonable to want to confront another five year old for teasing her….right?), and darn it! Motherhood and letting go is hard. The other morning she sat with me and wanted me to rock her while she held her lovies and we did that for 20 minutes. I told her about the day she was born and how I held her just like this and stared into her face and wondered, “who is this baby, is she really mine?” and how blessed I am to have her. Her face is my heart.
Fall in Michigan means a new pair of slippers lined in fleece that double as footwear for impromptu fire pit parties and walks across the street to the neighbors and maybe even a school pick up or two in the car rider line? We shall see.
Speaking of fire pits, my industrious husband built us a fancy pants fire pit this week and we put it to good use with good friends, a bag of pumpkin shaped marshmallows and enough sugared up kids to create an epic meltdown at bedtime. There’s something about sitting in a wicker chair at dusk with cold air at your back and fire warmed cheeks in the front and tiki torches all around. Life is good, my friends, life is good.
Tell me, how was YOUR weekend? Anything you are obsessed with that you might want to share?
