I was talking with a friend the other day and she mentioned that I should include a little about what inspires me style wise and how I choose to wear what I do on this style blog (go figure, right?) One of the biggest things I do is create collages out of magazine photos that inspire me. I get Glamour, Vogue, In Style and Lucky magazine in the mail and as I flip through and see something I like I fold the page down. Then, whenever I get the chance or some free time I go through the stack and cut out what I like and paste them into a sketchbook I have that I just prop up on a closet shelf. This gives me a visual on a daily basis of things I want to try that I would otherwise forget about (my mind just isn’t the same after kids…) I clip out a lot of different things, like fun color combinations, hair styles, or complete outfits that I just love and want to create again. I do the same thing on Pinterest and love having that visual as well, it just isn’t always in my face like the actual collage book so I forget about it sometimes.
I found the top photo on Pinterest a couple of weeks ago and was drawn to the mustard and black color combo and thought I would give it a whirl. I love the look of a skirts with opaque tights right now and I am somewhat obsessed with these fleece lined tights. Have I mentioned that tights and socks completely creep me out? I just can’t with most pairs, it’s sort of like nails on a chalkboard watching people put them on or touching them myself, so the fact that I can wear these tights and enjoy them is just short of amazing to me. I will be buying more. I think a colored pair of tights would look cute as well, perhaps deep purple?
I’ve also been wearing my rain boots like I would a normal black boot ( I don’t even have a real pair of tall black boots anyway) and I like the look. A bit more casual and fun, which works for me. I’m trying to step out of my current comfort box and try new things lately as I can get lazy in finding something that works and wearing it to death. Also, I’m back into wearing my extensions again all the time because, a) I chopped two inches off my hair and it’s a tad bit short for my liking, and b) more hair on my head keeps me warmer:) It’s a win/win right there, folks.

How do you find inspiration when getting ready in the morning?
