I believe I have about three “fancier” dresses in my closet (which get zero use by the way) and all of them are black. I am a creature of habit with routines, life, food habits, everything. I tend to buy the same type of clothing (always) and black dresses fall into that category. They just work for every situation, dressed up and down with different shoes. Easy, right? When Choies asked me to pick out a dress from their site (best blogger perk, ever) I saw this one and waffled back and forth between getting it in red or black. I almost, almost picked the black. It was the safe choice. In the end I decided to step out of my box and go with the red and I am thrilled. Its that gorgeous, tomato-y, Valentino red color that just pops and makes getting dressed up so easy, you know? If you have a bright color dress you don’t have to go crazy with accessories because the dress stands on its own and I like that. I like dresses that let me be lazy, I guess. I wore it the other night to go out to dinner for our anniversary dinner. We got a babysitter for the first time and I felt like a grown up, and maybe even like an impostor? When did I get old enough to have a babysitter when I was a babysitter myself a hot minute ago? Weird.
Anyway, I loved this dress and wore it out and felt like a modern day Audrey Hepburn with a twist. A modern twist (hello, leopard booties.) I loved how ladylike and pretty I felt. And it has a little petticoat underneath! To make it poof and twirl and all the things my inner five year old loves. I’d love to see this with a cropped leather jacket and tights in cooler weather or dainty heels and a huge, messy topknot.
Note: I received this dress for free (as well as this striped one, remember?) and I have to say how impressed I am with the quality of both. I am not paid to mention this fact, all I’m required to do is show the clothes to you and include a link. I haven’t been unhappy with any item from Choies and everything is always better than expected, both in quality and fit. I would absolutely buy from this site myself and would recommend it.
I am currently dying over this coat and love the color. It is an expensive item in my opinion and would be a splurge for sure.
I have this necklace and it is amazing in person. I plan on wearing it to Lucky FAAB next week.
