First of all, my legs are as white as the snow, right? And no, my hair is not this reddish in person. Weird. Moving on.
I’m a BIG fan of the longer length skirts in style at the moment, with the midi length being my current fave. While this skirt is a bit shorter than a traditional midi, I think it’s tricky to find the right look so as not to look like a sister wife. (Not that I don’t love a sister wife, and frankly I would love to have one for the help only. Not the creepy husband sharing part.) Also! I am obsessed with watching any Sister Wife type show and adore The Duggar’s (19 kids and counting!) There’s something about having a peek inside an different type of lifestyle that is really fascinating.
I was flipping through December’s InStyle magazine and came across an article about wearing midi skirts in a way that updated the look a bit. The solution? Wear a pair of cute ankle boots like I’m wearing above OR you can throw on a pair of super high, skinny heeled shoes. I have a pair of black glittery ones that I think would look awesome with this skirt (which is only $22, by the way.) Looking at my photos I would probably prefer those as it leaves a longer leg line, and maybe even add in a pair of tights? The tee shirt I wore underneath had leather cap sleeves and looked cool, but there’s no way I was taking that jacket off in 6 degree weather. I’d love to try a gold sparkly tank, too, instead of the black tee. Or even a bodysuit! I have a Christmas party coming up and I’m really looking forward to dressing up. I just bought an awesome, metallic sweatshirt at Target that would look great with a pencil skirt and (I saw these in person and they are AMAZING!) spiked heels. I picked up People StyleWatch at Target last Friday (did you KNOW that if you buy the December InStyle and People StyleWatch at the same time you get a $5 Target gift card?) and the whole dressed up sweatshirt thing is huge this year. I love this particular trend because, 1) It’s super comfortable and hello! I love comfortable, and 2) It’s warm. I despise begin cold. Michigan is currently laughing at me.
Here’s a money saving tip: If you buy the two magazine’s together you get the $5 gift card, right? Then you can make a separate transaction right after and use the gift card and immediately get the money off your next purchase. I’m a “let’s use gift cards the second you receive them” kind of girl and this little maneuver bought me that sweatshirt I mentioned above for only $15. Score. (The gift card promotion runs from 11/29-12/7!)
P.S. I’m not saying I went to Target three times this week. Okay fine, it was four. Also, the little boy in the cart is not part of the promotion;)
