Sometimes when I get dressed I play a little game with myself and just keep loading on accessories until it gets a little obscene. What’s one more necklace? A hat? (of course!) Bracelets and scarfs? Traditionally I am a minimalist dresser. I am my happiest wearing the least amount of clutter. A beautifully cut dress and simple, dainty jewelry is really my happy place, but in the colder months it takes a little bit more to stand out. Have you ever noticed the sea of black, down coats out there? (I’m jealous I don’t have one, really.) Sometimes all it takes to stand out in the crowd is some color and fun jewelry. Really!
Three things that make me happy this (frigid) time of year:
1) Colorful hats. The bulk of mine come from Target, my current fave is a teal blue one that is just perfection in my mind.
2) Bright lips! I’m pretty addicted to lipstick (or lipsquick as my daughter calls it) and rarely will you see me out without it. I lust after Bare Minerals Moxie, in either burgundy or hot pink. Also, red lips are amazing. Even with sweatpants. Need I say more?
3) I used to love silver toned/white gold jewelry. Forever it was branded the “in” color in wedding rings and anything else. However, I notice that I have been drawn to gold jewelry (rose and yellow) and find it warms up my skin so much better than white. I’ve been eyeing dainty rose gold rings on Jewelmint lately (late at night, online browsing. Don’t judge me.) There’s something about the color gold, against pale winter skin that makes me happy. (I’m also obsessed with black spinel anything, but we’ll save that for another day;)
On to some fun. The monthly edition of What She Wears is open and I can’t wait to see what you’ve come up with!
Link up your favorite gold look below. It can be ANYTHING, an outfit, a college, a wish list, anything! There are no rules. Jaylynn, Brandi, Dawnelle, Rebecca and I will each pick our fave from the link up and show you off on our blogs next Tuesday.
One last thing, half the fun of a link up is to meet new people. Visit the other links and mention you found them through their link. You never know what kind of friendship you will build (or business contact, perhaps?) I look forward to seeing your posts!
