℅ Choies dress; Kohl’s heels (option.)
My husband and I got to go out for a date the other night (yay for family in town! free babysitting!), and I knew that I wanted to dress up for it. I’ve worn this dress several times before (on our anniversary last year and to Lucky Fabb), and I really love the color and the feminine shape of it. There is something very classic and fun about wearing a simple dress with a bold lip and undone hair. Minimal jewelry, minimal fuss, and I am one happy girl.
Our dinner out was at a place on the water in downtown Traverse City. They have a tiki bar/cocktail lounge right by Grand Traverse Bay that is a little piece of heaven. Pretty tables, Adirondack chairs, and lounge areas are set up on a lush, green lawn that overlooks all the sailboats docked nearby. It’s one of those places that, once you sit with a frosty drink in your hand, makes you feel that all is right in the world, and that life couldn’t possibly get any better. Server’s come and refresh your cocktail in a moments notice, the breeze is just right, and I get to spend one on one time with my husband. It was a pinch me moment in time that makes me wish Summer would never end.
Sometimes these little moments of “grown up time” puts me in the best state of mind. It’s like a refresh button on sanity.
The next couple of weeks are going to be so busy for us. My son turns 5 (my baby!) next week, and my birthday follows after that on the 18th (I’ll be 34!) August is the month of birthdays among family and friends, and I look forward to celebrating them all. I’ve loved reaching these different milestones in my life. Turning 30 was a huge turning point for me (for the better), and each additional year has brought better and better things into my life. To add into the fun, this October my husband and I will be celebrating ten years of marriage, and we have been coming up with some fun plans to celebrate that.
I really love having all these life events to look forward to, as well as squeezing out all the fun out of Summer that we can. I intend to beach it as much as we can, eat dinner out on our back deck nightly, and enjoy my extra time with my kids before school begins in September.
Tell me, what special occasions or events are happening in your life right now? What are you looking forward to?
