Blog post idea from HERE.
I’ve managed to majorly scale back the time I spend actually blogging from what I used to do in the past. What used to take me 4-5 hours per day can most likely be accomplished in two hours or less (depending on the day, of course!), which gives me more time to live my actually life. Ha! I’m not a plan ahead blog post/editorial calendar kind of girl, so when I have an idea for a post I write it down. Then, when I have the time to write it all out I can remember my initial intent and create a story of sorts. I do a lot of blogging when both of my kids are in school, and have worked to be more present in their lives when they are home. I’m working on setting aside more actual writing time during the week, typically this involves an afternoon at Panera, or a local coffee shop, where I have no excuse of housework/chores/nap taking to take me away from my tasks. (Though people watching for me can be seen as a HUGE time suck, because people are just really fascinating, right?)
Yet I digress.
(Typical.)
This is not a ‘how do you blog post’, but a what on earth are you doing other than blogging moment happening here today, something I love to hear about from others. Have I mentioned that I am pretty nosy by nature and I’m fascinated by what goes on behind closed doors? Well, I am! I want to know what your favorite book is, what face wash you use, do you like wine, what do you fight about with your significant other, what are your favorite baby names, do you like tattoos (current obsession), and anything else you are willing to tell me over a glass or two of wine during a book club meeting. Don’t worry, I’ll share all my secrets, too;) So here goes!
When I’m not blogging (say, the other 92% of my time…)
This is the winter edition of my real life , the summer one looks a lot crazier different. Stay tuned.
I’m watching Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with my kids, and then having detailed conversations in the car about the Kraang and ninja weapons and whether or not April O’ Neil has psychic powers.
I’m reading, always. I’m a fast reader and read a book or so every other day, so if I’m not blogging or being a mom/wife/friend, then you can find my nose in a book (or my Kindle.)
I’m making school lunches and packing backpacks. I drive my kids to school and pick them up each day, and love walking them in and settling them in their classrooms. I remember to locate their mittens and hats and snow pants for recess, pack their boots and snacks and homework folders, and clean out multiple items of ridiculousness out of their backpacks each afternoon. Then I do it all again the next morning.
I’m sitting in an ice cold indoor rink and watching my kids take skating lessons, and wincing each time they fall down hard (approx. 2.346 times per lesson.)
I’m snuggled up in bed watching funny TV show with my husband, or reading while he watches every single reality show known to man that is broadcasted on the History Channel. Appalachian Outlaws, anyone?
I’m begging my kids to eat faster, brush your teeth NOW, go potty, wipe your nose, put on shoes, remember you library book, clean your room, make your bed, put on clothes, or any variation of these about every five minutes or so.
I’m thinking of what is next. Karate lesson and T-ball sign ups, upcoming family vacations, Spring cleaning, organizing, and taxes. LORD HELP ME.
Laundry. Always.
Sweeping, swifferring, Lysol wiping, dish cleaning and meal prep/cook/cleanup. Always.
Calling my mama and best friend. Daily.
Visiting the chiropractor twice a week. I swear, my back issues have been made so much better by this one change in my life.
And finally (I think?), going to the gym. I try to go three days a week and I’m currently working on improving my running time and building more muscle. Because DARN IT, bathing suit season will be here soon.
Tell me, what does your non-blogging time look like?
