A week ago my husband and I had planned a belated anniversary dinner for us to go out and celebrate (you can see how we spent our ACTUAL anniversary here. Ha.) I had met a friend for coffee earlier in the day and it ended up turning into an impromptu double date, which I loved! The funny thing is, with the kids and work and sports and life, we find that we are almost always exclusively home together. We get a lot of alone time after the kids go to bed and spend our weekends as a family doing stuff. And I adore this, because HELLO!, we’re married and he’s one of my favorite people to hang out with, but sometimes it is really nice to get together with another couple (anniversary dinner and all,) and have some good food and good wine together.
We all sat in the front window of a gorgeous French restaurant downtown, watching the (yikes) snow flurries and freezing rain fall outside. There were Pomme Frites dipped in herbed butter, and decadent glasses of rich red wine, and a freezing walk down the block for after dinner drinks after, (where you clutch your husband’s arm in a death grip as you try to walk on the slippery pavement in high heels.
I am ALWAYS an impractical dresser. You know this, yes?!
Here’s to good friends, good wine, and date nights that are made better with great company. And high heels!
Happy weekend, friends!
