This is the first time I’ve ever disclosed what I’ve earned in a year from blogging (besides on my taxes, obviously), but I thought it might be helpful! It’s funny, this was the year I made the LEAST effort with blogging. I decided to post more and had some wonderful opportunities, but I didn’t put as much effort in the business side as I had in the past. I stepped back a bit and tried it more as a hobby again, and it brought back the love for me in this space. I put less pressure on myself to create a brand and do everything right and just wrote and posted, for me.
That being said, I still booked campaigns and had wonderful opportunities to work with companies that I love, and THAT was amazing. To work with those that I truly want to work with is inspiring. It is not hard to share things here if I have a passion for it, and that is my truth. I hope to continue that this year. I may not be killing it, or quitting my job to blog, but I’m still here five years later, posting each day, and I absolutely love it.
On to the good stuff! I recently added up my income from this blog for tax purposes and found that I made $3,079.66 last year. This does not include the free product I received. (I haven’t yet added that up, but I do keep track of it!) I spent a minimal amount on mostly Facebook advertising and my PicMonkey accounts. Compared to the year before (where I made $4,964, plus free product), I made less. And I am okay with this. I am okay with this blog being the equivalent of a part time job for me. If you divide my income into 12 months, I pull in on average $256 per month. By style blogging. Obviously some months I make way more and some way less, but I am okay with saying that I make enough for a car payment or even a couple of dinners out per month. I do this by posting outfit pictures and wearing pretty clothes, and baring my soul bit and connecting with YOU. That makes me happy.
I’ve written before about how I diversify my income, and my blog income is a huge part in that. I write here, I work part time at school, and I connect with others by selling magical shampoo on the internet (HA!) Each of these income earners has the potential to make more and more money as I put more time into them. I can choose to do as little or as much as I want, and I am lucky for that.
