I don’t know about you, but my health and exercise goals have sort of (most definitely) jumped the track lately. Perhaps it’s because I am up to my eyebrows in fleece and don’t have to particular care if I’ve gained a couple of pounds, or maybe it’s the fact that comfort foods sound so delicious to me when it is below zero outside (chili, pizza, pasta, YUM.) I keep track of my calories via My Fitness Pal (though I do occasionally lie to her…), and work out either at home or at the gym (sort of), but not consistently like I have in the past. This needs to change!
I need a plan.
A jumpstart if you will.
I’m pretty good when I set goals for myself and write them down, for some reason it holds me accountable so I don’t slack off. As does shouting them out to the world (you!) I hate to be a quitter, so I wanted to come up with a solid plan for myself and share it here, and I hope to have some of YOU come along and do it with me. Let’s be accountable and HEALTHY and be the best we can be.
Goal one: Use Fitness Pal 7 days a week. I currently use it about five days a week, but on the weekends (when I’ve eaten fried pickles, two pieces of pie in a sitting, and a good amount of wine, OOPS), I don’t add it in. I assume this isn’t the best way to eat? HA. I want to be more aware of what I’m eating all week long and make better decisions. I’m not talking about NOT eating what I want, just adjusting portions and being more mindful.
Goal two: Exercise three days a week, no excuses. I am typically really good at keeping up with my routine, but for the past two months I have had the excuses of being sick (working in the school system has been hell on my immune system), having people visiting, and just general laziness. While I have worked out at least once a week for a long time, I need to make sure I am doing my minimum of 3 days. I do this at the Y, or at home with Beachbody on demand.
Goal three: Cut back on useless calories (WINE.) I actually started this about three weeks ago and I have felt so much better! I stopped buying wine at the grocery store so that I wasn’t drinking it during the week. Wine for me is like having cookies or brownies around, if it is there I will eat/drink it. I’m not good with portion control and it is easy to get carried away. If it’s not available, I don’t partake. I find that I feel better when I’m not drinking wine as much (less dehydrated/bloating/etc), and obviously the calories in it are a big factor. While I do have a glass (or two) when we go out to dinner, not having alcohol in the house has been a good thing.
