August in our house is such a busy month, with tons of birthdays (five, to be exact), and another school year beginning. Since my birthday was in the mix I tend to have a couple of splurges that do not regularly occur, and I thought it would be fun to share what I purchased! I think long and hard about these spurges and tend to pool gift cards and such to grab items I have been drooling over forever. Other items were just fun items I knew would fit right into my (sort of) capsule wardrobe I’ve got going on. I’ll give fit info, too, in case some of these things are items YOU have been eyeing as well!

You guys. I have been eyeing the popular Steve Madden version of these for MONTHS. I almost bought them so many times, but something kept stopping me. Maybe it was because I saw them everywhere, or maybe it was the price? Who knows, but I knew I wanted a great BASIC slide sandal that would look good with everything. Enter the Same Edelman version and I am in love. They are closer in appearance to the $700 Hermes version (YIKES), and the saddle brown color I bought are pure perfection. I am so happy I waited and got these, and know they will last me quite awhile as they are great quality. They are true to size, I bought an 8 and that is my typical sandal size. (Thinking if geting the PINK next!
Another item that I have been eyeing for close to a year! This is the prettiest lace bralette and looks great peeking out of tanks and is meant to be seen. A couple of months ago I went into Dillard’s and tried this on in a small and a medium. I felt at the time that the small fit better, so that is the size I bought a couple of weeks ago in white. In retrospect, I wish I had bought the medium. Now this bralette isn’t meant to be supportive by any means, but it is delicate and I think the poor small just has to work too hard on me (ha.) I can see where some of the lace is pulling and I know I will have to size up again. That said, I completely love it and I plan on buying the black in medium to wear under fall thermals and sweaters. It is a beautiful bralette and looks gorgeous under just about anything.
I would say that if you are someone who has to wear an underwire for support, this bra is most likely not for you. I can get away with bralettes and low support, so it works, but it would be worth a try on if you are interested!
Backstrory….last winter I discovered that I had no “in between” shoes. I had workout sneakers for athleisure, shearling boots for super casual days, and cute booties for more dressing up, but no casual shoe I could wear in between. (This is what my mind thinks about, you guys.) I’ve seen these wedge sneakers on several women of style that admire and I came to the conclusion that THESE were what I was missing. Cue praise hands lol. I wanted them to be easy and casual and cute, and I wanted them to look great with my Urban Outfitter’s thermal and sweaters. After reading reviews I sized up to an 8.5 and they fit great. There is room for a sock when it gets colder, but I can slide in barefoot as well.
It may or may not surprise you guys, but I am obsessed with neutral tanks that I can wear with cute sandals and cut off shorts. Free People never disappoints me here (I have this $20 swing tank in two colors, and this $20 tank in 3 colors!) This one was a bit pricier, but it is the perfect gray color, it is softer than anything, and it lets my lacy bralette be the star of the show (it is cut low under the arms.) I bought it in an XS and it is TTS in my opinion.
You can see me wearing both the bralette and the tank here!
I have been looking for a new pair of sunglasses to invest in, as I haven’t bought a new pair in years and wanted to branch out a bit. I love the look of my Rayban aviators, and knew I wanted a similar look, but in a silvery color that would go with more (my other pairs are bright pink and bright blue.) I went into Dillard’s and tried on a million pair and decided that these were IT. I am obsessed! They are much less than my Rayban’s and work just as well, and I actually think they are better looking. I see more pairs in my future…
You can see me wearing them on my birthday, here!
Okay, so these were the ultimate spurge and were a birthday gift, as well as the only thing I purchased during the Nordstrom Anniversary sale. One of my quests has been to find the perfect pair of denim that I could wear almost all year-long. I am super picky about fit, and color, and I love some distressing, but not too much. The holy grail of jeans, if you will. I’ve worn mostly inexpensive pairs forever and they were always off. Now these are way more than I price I’d pay on my own, but after reading reviews and seeing that these were the jeans I saw my favorite bloggers wearing over and over again, I bought them. They are soft and fit wonderfully, and the rips are in the right spots (that doesn’t always happen.) I love the color of them and I am looking forward to seeing how they hold up with more wear. I bought the size 27 and that is my true size and they fit great, so TTS here.
Tell me, what have you bought lately and loved?
