Happy February, friends! Was it me, or was January kind of…terrible? Between the government shutdown that really rocked our lives (we live off of my husband’s income as a member of the military/Coast Guard!), and all that came with that, I feel like we were on survival mode. BUT, I learned a lot from that (more to come on that), and how I want us to move forward from now on. With any time of struggle or hardship, I try to ask the question, “What can I learn from this?” Or better yet, “What is this trying to teach me?” I can tell you this, asking these questions retrains your brain to finding positive solutions and gives a positive outlook to just about any situation.
Anyway! I promised to make intentions for each month (my January intentions HERE), and I did okay with them. Ha. I DID keep up with my water intake, which is good. #nailedit I didn’t do as well practicing my kipping pullups and linking them together during the last 2 weeks of the month, and did not wear more color in my wardrobe (see and shop all my weekly looks HERE.) I will say, over the month I learned that I am very comfortable wearing my all neutral capsule wardrobe right now. It is just not in my wheelhouse to wear more color this season, so that intention wasn’t the best for me. It is OKAY to set intentions for the month or year and find that they aren’t for you after all. I give you permission! My other goal was to create something every single day and I am pretty sure I achieved that. Whether it was for this blog, my style newsletter, my health and wellness newsletter, or social media, I do create something daily, which makes me feel productive.
My February Intentions!
- Finish my Capsule Wardrobe email course and get that ready for launch. I spent part of January creating a rough draft for this online course and I am really excited about it! Now I just need to fine tune it and send it to my graphic designer to get it all pretty for you. You can sign up for my style newsletter to get more details when it comes out and an early discount on my course.
- Have a jewelry party at my house with friends and show off the brand of jewelry I love so much. It recently dawned on me to sign up as a stylist for Stella + Dot after buying jewelry constantly from my friend Marina for the past two years. I wear this line of jewelry the most and get asked about it a lot, so I am excited to share it a bit more here and on Instagram via stories. I had been toying around with starting an online boutique myself, but in the end it dawned on me to just go with a place that does the ordering and buying and shipping for me, especially when I already love and buy what they are selling. So anyway, I am looking forward to getting my order and having my girls over to look at all the pretty things! BONUS: my other intention is to get out more and be more social, so this is a win/win lol.
- My last intention is to just keep up my journaling and meditation routine. I wake up early 5 days a week and do this and it really helps me to start my day off right. It is an easy intention to keep because I already do it, but even ingrained habits can slip. Also, because this is such an important part of my day, I want to make sure it is a priority.
That’s it! Pretty simple, right? Since the first two are more time-consuming I wanted to keep this list small. I do have other intentions that are just sort of built into my life by habit, so I don’t include those here (exercise 5 days/week, look for ways to love on + serve the people in my newsletter community and on Instastories daily, be a good mom and wife, etc…)
P.S. I have a free guide on my Favorite books + podcasts that have changed my life and helped me focus more on personal development and setting intentions! You can sign up below.
