Something that I have loved doing with my kids now that they have been home doing virtual school for the last 100 years (š) is to head outside and go walking. We have a ton of trails nearby and I have the belief that there is no bad weather, except pouring rain or below 10 degree, it is just a matter of dressing for it. They grumble and complain, but as we walk we notice the changes we see on the trail, how the animals are behaving, and we stop to hear the river and drop leaves in to see how far they go. We walk 2-3 miles, and in this time we breathe in the fresh air and get away from the constant screentime and just talk. I shoot for once a week, but hope to build up another day. I notice immediately how refreshed we feel and what it does for my soul, and theirs.
It’s a weird time to be a mom, but watching them sit all day on Zoom and miss their friends and wish for things to be normal again makes me sad. This one thing, getting outside no matter what, has brought some light into our lives.
What is bringing light into your life right now? And if you’re a mom, how are YOU doing?
