This is a look I have been lusting over lately, too!
Hello, friends! I wanted to do a start to finish makeup tutorial to show what I do for my everyday mama on the go look. I’m not going to lie, I’m pretty simple when it comes to my look and it rarely varies. I do like to experiment with colored eyeliners and love a bold lip, but the steps rarely change. I’ll link some of my favorite products below and feel free to ask any questions in the comments below. I’m always taking requests for more tutorials, so let me know!
Note: I love a good drugstore makeup run (how is it possible to go into CVS for just one thing and not spend $50??) I like to try more expensive products occasionally to see if they really are better, and sometimes they are, but often the cheapie rocks my world. Which makes me a happy girl to be honest with you. I like a bargain. I’ll link both splurge and save options in case you’re curious.
Eyeshadow: Splurge/Save ( I honestly use my Naked Palette for everything…lining eyes, filling in brows, highlighting, etc. I’m not really an eyeshadow girl, but it is nice to have, right?)
Tell me, how long does it take you to do your makeup in the morning?
The past couple of tutorials I’ve done seem to be all my braided hair looks clumped together! They are all the easiest looks to do quickly (a must for me) and don’t require a lot of hair expertise to do. Which I don’t have much of, by the way…
I used to do this braided crown look a lot last summer and kind of forgot about it for awhile. It’s super easy and looks really fun and different. It’s one of those hairstyles that you can do while dressed down in a tee shirt and shorts and still feel a little bit cool still, you know? I think it works better with longer hair (a couple of inches past your shoulders at least) and can be done on clean or dirty hair. I want to try it out with my extensions as well for more thickness and length, as my hair is thinner than I’d like. Hair dyeing has not been kind to me!
Tell me, have you ever tried this look?
Hey there! Another Thursday, another rambling video with giraffe references (??) and just got back from spinning and decided not to wash my hair syndrome…whyyyyy? BUT! I go over my date night makeup steps from start to finish and below I have linked the exact products I use. This is my quickest, most basic “fancier” look I do. The other one is a winged eyeliner and red lips look, but I haven’t yet perfected how to do a cat eye without a mirror 2 inches from my face and my elbow resting on the bathroom counter. I’m working on it, though!
Date night makeup products:
Primer: Revlon Photo Ready Perfecting Primer
Foundation: Revlon Colorstay in medium beige.
Concealer: Revlon Photo Ready Concealer in medium.
Blush/Bronzer: Neutrogena Healthy Skin Custom Glow Blush and Bronzer in rosy glow.
Eyeshadow: Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette
Eyeliner: Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Eye Pencil in Perversion. I also like wearing an emerald green or violet eyeliner as well to spice things up a little.
Mascara: Rimmel Scandal Eyes Mascara I’m not attached, but it’s what I’m using right now!
Lipstsick: Covergirl Lip Perfection Lipcolor in Spellbound.
Also, since the camera and lighting makes me paler and you can’t see my makeup as well as in person, here are some closer shots for you. Don’t be scared by my ever changing hair length, I wear extensions. Did I fool you?
Tell me, what is your favorite date night makeup look?
It’s a twofer this week! My kids were in preschool and I locked the cat out of the room, so the videos are interruption free. Yay! Also, really with the freeze frame face shots? Why, I ask you? Whyyyyy?
Now on to the details!
My recommendation for both up do’s is to have dirty hair. These are both go to looks for me on day four or five (I wash my hair maybe twice a week) and I find they hold better that way. I was on day two for these videos and you can tell by the little fuzzies in my hairline. Dirtier hair is a bit smoother and holds better!
Also, I like to place the initial ponytail higher up on my head than I showed, maybe about four inches from your hairline? This looks better from the front and a bit more fashion forward in my opinion. You can do the messy topknot without a ponytail extension, my hair is just a bit thinner and the added hair adds fullness that I like.
Another thing you can do after is to take your brush and gently pull the little baby hairs out around your face near your hairline. This makes it less perfect and more effortless.
You can also see my sock bun tutorial here! I love my sock bun and had to buy my daughter one because she always wanted to wear mine. Daughters!
I love having looks that I can do really quickly and have me out of the house with minimal effort. I don’t have a lot of time to fuss and I do like to look put together when out and about. I mean, if mama ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy, am I right?
Tell me, what is your favorite quick up do? Any requests for more tutorials?
