In honor of one of my all time fave blogger’s, here are some of the awkward and awesome moments from my week:
Awkward
-Teaching my daughter the correct word for her nether region and having her respond, “That is such a pretty name! I think I’ll name my doll, Vagina.” There are not enough words in the English language to describe my mortification.
-Explaining to my step mother the plot of “Fifty Shades of Grey.” No daughter should ever have to use the phrases “submissive,” “red room of pain”, “written pornography” or “hard limits” to their parents. Never.
-My daughter asking me, “what does blood smell like?” Umm, nothing?
-Walking around a store in a button down shirt and finding out when you get home that it is unbuttoned to your waist. Yikes. And no, I was not wearing a pretty bra. That never happens.
Awesome
-Shopping for school supplies for BOTH of my children. It’s the most wonderful time of the yeeaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!
-Tuna melts and tator tots. For dinner.
-The teal blue moccasin booties, oxfords with hot pink bottoms, distressed jeans and mustard yellow cardi I bought at Target this week. And yes, I’m totally going back for those bright orange skinny corduroy pants and owl sweater next week. And the green lace dress.
-Watching the Olypmics. I thought I was all “bah humbug” about it, then I got sucked in. Go USA!
-Hanging out with my mom while the kids played outside for an hour. We haven’t had a lot of one on one time since the kids were born and I missed it.
