My fabulous mother bought me this luggage last year and the cosmetic cases this year. Before, I packed in random, un-matching, ugly as sin luggage. I love having pretty bags to pack my clothes in! These are hard sided, take corners like they are on rails, and make me look cooler than I am. Thanks mom!
I have a separate case for all my jewelry. I usually pack a lot as that is the easiest way to transform a basic outfit into something fun. Bold jewelry is best as it is more memorable. I also wear fake rings to save my nice stuff (where I am more likely to lose it) and it is a chance to jazz up my hands with rings I will likely never afford. The bigger the better, baby.
When choosing outfits I will pick one item, say a pair of bright blue skinny jeans, and then find two or three shirts I could wear with them. That makes at least three outfits that can be rolled tightly for space. All of these options can be dressed up down with different shoes and jewelry.
Another outfit idea, taking a basic white tee and finding something to dress it down (blue jeans) and dress it up (a mint colored floaty skirt.) Again, these outfits can be dressed up or down depending on the shoes and jewelry you pick.
Bright cardigans and belts can be the game changers of any outfit. They help any outfit become more interesting and layering is always a good thing if you don’t know what the weather will be like. I also like to pack a fun colored clutch to bring in case some fun night out presents itself and you don’t want to drag a big tote out with you to dinner or drinks. In the winter I would wear my jacket while traveling to save space.
I love packing dresses that can be both casual or dressy. I would wear this dress with simple sandals and a cute hat in the day with a cross body bag for day, belted with wedges, a colored clutch and fun necklace for night.
An example of how I like to dress while travelling: simple basics like a white tee and jeans that are jazzed up with a bold necklace, funky sunglasses, cute men style oxfords and an interesting colored cardigan. Throw on a crossbody bag for sightseeing and hands free fun and you are set. I love taking the basics and making them pop. Sometimes all it takes is bright lipstick and sunglasses to make you stand out.
P.S More to come tomorrow on airport style and how to travel with kids!
