My name has no special meanings that I know of. A common misconception from this blog is that my name is Jackie, but it is in fact, Meagan.
My kids have better name reasons, though. Once about ten years ago I saw a little baby girl named Molly and thought it was the cutest name. I told my husband about it (we were just dating then, I’m sure he was thrilled to talk baby names) and he loved it. When we found out we were having a girl it had to be Molly. Amelia is for Amelia Earhart. I wanted a strong middle name with meaning, and since my Mr is a pilot we thought the pilot reference was kind of cute.
My son is named Brady, but was actually nameless for about two days. You see, he was supposed to be Max. It took months to come up with that name. Yet when he was born I looked at him and saw he was not a Max. I had to search my brain for every name I had thought cute in the past and came up with Brady or Maguire. I wrote them down on the hospital menu and we eventually (two days and countless questioning from the nurses later) decided he was a Brady. I still love it, despite the rhyme-y singsong way Molly and Brady sound like together.
I adore reading, mostly romance novels (I know!) and being by myself. I fully enjoy alone time, mostly because it is hard to come by.
I was not any one of those things. I was shy and looking back, pretty unsure of myself. I wish I had gotten more involved with extra curricular activities and tried harder in school. I was the manager of the football team, though. Score for me.
I named my blog after Jackie Kennedy, who was the first fashion icon I really connected with. I’ve read almost every book about her and adore her style. My love of fashion was Because of Jackie…get it?!
Oooh, that is hard. I am not really a quote girl. I did have one on a post it note in college that read,
“Life is what happens when you are busy making other plans.”
I like to remember that because I usually get swept up in what is coming next (see yesterday’s Obsession post) and don’t always enjoy the actual moment like I should.
Oh gosh, there are a lot I would go to! I love the 1880’s (think Laura Ingall’s Wilder), the 1920’s (I need to dance the Charleston in a beaded flapper dresss) and the 1940’s (the pin curls! the red lips!)
I love reading about history and wondering how people lived, worked, dressed and had fun in different times. One of my favorite book series of all time, Outlander, is about a woman that time travels. Read it, I promise you won’t be disappointed.
Believe it or not I don’t really like Halloween. I hate scary movies and just kind of wish it were over so the real (read: Christmas) holiday season would begin.
When I drink something from a glass I swallow really loud. It’s weird.
Just one? Then it would have to be a huge department store where I could buy everything in one stop, like Bergdorf’s or Barney’s.
Right now I love Target, Marshall’s, and Zara.com is my current go-to favorite.
Ha! I can read really fast. As in entire books in a couple of hours.
Sooooo, that’s me in a nutshell. Halloween hating, loud swallowing, underachieving high schooler and all.
