I love how some things in life have the ability to bring you back in time instantly. I think growing up in the 80’s and 90’s was the best and it seems pretty funny to me that the fashion and styles of that time are back now. Remember Hypercolor sweatshirts, side ponies, bodysuits and scrunch socks? I mean, I remember wearing a bodysuit to a 7th grade dance, dancing an arms length away to Red, Red Wine by UB40 with some sweaty handed boy. (Ewwwww.)
Side note! Do me a favor, okay? If you have Direct TV I want you to listen to the 90’s channel (channel 806.) I dare you to not be transported in time with every song.
I digress.
Who doesn’t remember Jelly shoes as an integral part of their 90’s childhood? I swear, I opened the box these came in and the smell! It smelled like puffy painted sweatshirts and Boy II Men tapes (and Paula Abdul! And New Kids on the Block!) The smell of a childhood free of cell phones and Internet, where I would laze around on the hammock in our back yard in New Hampshire and pick rocks out of the bottom crevices of my beloved jelly shoes. I can picture it clear as day, laying there with a book (as I tended to do,) wearing a pair of pretty jelly sandals and loving every moment of having something cute and fun to wear. This may come as a surprise to you, but I was quite girly growing up (can you hear the sarcasm from there?) I loved skirts that twirled and sweatshirts with cats on them and anything that sparkled and glittered and made me feel pretty.
Fast forward twenty years, two kids, three states and 4,947 trips to Target and I have a pair of my very own Jelly Beans jelly shoes again. Squeeeeeeeeee! They come in some pretty fun colors and the highlight of my life was picking out the perfect pair for me. I chose clear glitter, because….um, is there a reason needed for clear glitter jelly shoes? I can’t wait to wear these with cutoff shorts and a simple white tee and maybe a messy topknot? These are the perfect, lightweight summer shoe and honestly felt like I was barefoot while wearing them. Super comfortable. And! There is FREE SHIPPING on all orders and they are shipped from the United States. Jelly Beans are in adult and child sizes, and in case you are wondering I would totally rock a matching look with Molly (she would probably go for the pink!) That’s if she doesn’t steal mine before then…
Tell me, what color of Jelly Beans would you choose? Do you have any memories of wearing these from your childhood?
