So I KNOW you are shaking your head at me right now. I get that having a blog series about mama looks is not synonymous with an all white outfit. I get it. I do! Hear me out, okay? I wore this to drop my oldest at school, trudging in slushy snow and squeezing past dirty cars. I went grocery shopping with my youngest, went on several errands, going in and out several stores dragging a stubborn four year old behind me and managed to stay pretty clean. Should I mention I am also the klutziest person around? I constantly spill coffee down my shirt, bump into inanimate objects and have kids who believe my shirt is a tissue. If I can stay clean for the majority of the day, SO CAN YOU. I promise!
I’ve recently become somewhat obsessed with mixing cream and white in winter. I like the thought of a white pant this time of year as well, taking something that is more Spring/Summer and making it work for Winter. I bought these jeans on sale at Target a couple of weeks ago for $20 and they have the perfect amount of stretch, rips, and some cool pyramid studs on the pockets. I’m not a big fan of letting things sit in my closet until the right moment, so here we are. An all white outfit! Ideally, if I’m being honest here, I would wear this with either loosened Converse or a nude ankle boot. I like the peek of ankle with no socks, it creates a longer line, but the two feet of snow on the ground disagrees with me. So, boots it is! And the coat….sigh. I love this coat, but I enjoyed the outfit more without it.
How can you incorporate this look into your life? I think there are ways to make this work for anyone, whether you wish to go all white or just add some smaller accents.
In a warmer climate, why not wear a pair Converse like I mentioned above (in either black OR white), instead of the boots?
I just bought a pair of putty colored Sam Edelman Petty boots that I am DYING to wear with an all white outfit, but the snow and suede? Not so much.
I love the thought of a long, tunic length cream sweater with white jeans.
A camel coat would accent this look well, it keeps the color palette neutral and the line unbroken from head to toe.
Instead of wearing white from head to toe, try layering a white tee with a cozy cream sweater. It lets you dip your toe into the look without going all white out crazy.
OR, instead of an all white and cream look, why not try an outfit in different shades of the same color? Think navy blue, aquamarine and cobalt; or red, pale pink and fuchsia.
Tell me, would you wear an all white outfit in the winter?
P.S. Thanks so much for indulging me in this week of style posts about mama style. I had the best time thinking of what I really wear on a daily basis and then breaking it down for you in a week long series! Let me know if you have any ideas or thoughts for future posts, style or otherwise. Happy weekend, friends!
