I wore this outfit last week for approximately an hour. It was raining (oh hey, rain boots!), yet sort of muggy, and I wanted to look fun in my boots, shorts, and flowy top. I ran with the kids to do this photo shoot, then to the grocery short for a quick grab and go, and in that time I was so uncomfortable I ended up going home and changing before continuing on with my day (you can see what I ended up wearing here on Instagram.) Everything about this look just felt off, so I figured, why not share it here?
Here’s what I hated about this look:
1) I love this blouse, I really do! It is floaty and fun and when I wear it with skinny jeans it feels very ethereal. However, when I paired with with these shorts, the back, (which is longer than the front,) completely hid my shorts and I looked like I had no pants on. NOT a good look. Also, the voluminous style of this top, with these shorts, made me look pretty roly poly in person.
2) I’m not a scarf person. I rarely put one on and don’t feel immediately uncomfortable. I tried tying it a bunch of different ways and ended up just draping it on. This made it get it my way constantly and I HATE when I have to fiddle with or adjust something I have on to make it right. I do love the pattern on this scarf, though, and would like to find a way to wear it and not feel weird. Am I the only one that can’t stand wearing scarves?
3) I keep waiting to be the type that can throw on a pair of shorts and boots like I see all these girls do on Pinterest, and look good. I love wearing my Hunter’s with a dress or a longer skirt, but I think my body isn’t meant to show this much leg and cut it off in the wrong spot with a pair of boots.
In the end, I think that all of these pieces are good ones, they just aren’t that great when paired together. I’m not afraid to change out of something immediately if it feels OFF, and in this case I couldn’t change quickly enough. The key for me when getting dressed is to do what feels right to me, and take chances. If it doesn’t work I am okay with it, I find that taking a chance and trying something new is the key to my style happiness.

On to something more fun that my awesome style fail. My sponsors this month have pooled their funds together and are giving away $100 to J Crew! I love this type of gift card, because it is such an awesome way to be able to buy things you may not have the chance to otherwise (I know for me that J Crew is a major splurge store!)
The giveaway will run for a week and is open to International readers, as I will be emailing the gift card directly to you. Good luck!
