I’ve recently discovered a simple mind trick that has pretty much revolutionized my life and how I do things. It has taken what used to be a lot of negativity and in turn, made me grateful for everything. Even cleaning my house. Seriously!
It is so simple. Any time I go to a place of negativity, I switch it around. You basically change in your mind something that is not enough, and make it more than you need. You’ll be amazed by how this changes how you perceive your life.
–Ugh, I have to go to the gym today. Change it to: I GET to go to the gym today, or I am so lucky to have a strong body that can do hard things.
–I hate mopping and cleaning. Change it to: I GET to clean my big, beautiful home. I am so lucky to have a place I get to keep clean.
–If I go to sleep now I’ll only get four hours of sleep. Change it to: I am lucky to have four hours of sleep tonight. How blessed am I to get up early and do the things I love?
–I can’t believe this (insert literally anything) is happening to me. Change it to: What is this teaching me? How can I make this more joyful in this situation?
Do you see? I realize this seems so simple and kind of lame at first. I do. But seriously, changing your mindset to see the good in any situation versus the bad will change your life for the better. I’ve found that if I am grateful and calm, it radiates to those around me and makes life better for everyone.
Try it for one day! Anytime you hear yourself complain, to yourself or others, stop it and rephrase. I try not to complain at all, ever, to anyone. And on the inside, I rephrase my thoughts to positive ones about ever 3 seconds (approx,. lol.) You may surprise yourself…I always thought I was a positive person until I listened to my own inner thoughts.
