Do you want to know the secret to being confident?
It’s not looking perfect, doing things the “right” way, or anything external. It isn’t what your body looks like or how much praise you get.
To be more confident you need to be able to keep promises to yourself. Simple, small promises. Baby promises. You need to be able to trust yourself.
DO you know how many times in my past I said I would do something drastic, and then quit after a few days? Most of it was diet or health related. I would have extreme guilt over eating + exercise and I would promise to be SO GOOD, and then fall off the wagon. Repeat and repeat. That was my life for 25+ years. I know you worry about it, too. I was never confident in my own word until I was in my mid 30’s.
I could never trust myself because I made huge, lofty goals, and I couldn’t follow through. I broke my own word, constantly.
It wasn’t until I made small goals, small promises to myself, and kept them, that I felt confident. I eventually built up to bigger goals, but it started small.
What makes you feel good? What do you know you want to be better at? Right now,I have a goal to move my body 5 days a week, that can mean a run, or a 10 minute video. Some days it is just stretching. It is important to me, mentally, so I do it. Can you promise yourself 2 minutes of walking a day? One minute? Can you promise just to put on workout clothes only?
You basically just break it down to the tiniest thing you know you can do each day, and do it. If you can’t to that, make it even smaller. Eventually you will learn to trust yourself and you can set bigger goals. I’m able to set big goals each day because I trust I will do them, and that feels really good. I have confidence in myself to follow through on the stuff that matters.
What tiny, mini goal could you set for yourself?
